Our Board of Governors

At the core of Island Primary’s ethos is a commitment to fostering and growing a sense of community, both within and outside of the classroom and school playgrounds. Crucial to this model is ensuring that our students, the centre of our purpose, are cared for through multiple layers of support, guidance and ultimately, governance.  The concept of this community can be seen in the following image, representing a multi-layered approach to ensuring our success.

To support the school’s senior leadership and staff, our Governance Model sets out our multi layers approach of support: Board of Directors, Board of Governors, and External Stakeholders. Our Board of Governor’s Framework set out the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Governors and serves to guide the establishment and processes of the Board.

Our Board of Governors is made up of 7 Representatives who each bring a different focus, specialty and perspective to our school. These seats, and their current members, are as follow below. To learn more about them please check out their bios here.

The goal of the Board of Governors is to provide the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team the benefit of their unique perspectives, leveraging their wealth of experience to contribute to the realisation of Island Primary's vision. As strategic advisors with diverse backgrounds and experience, their input is incredibly valuable to the evolving purpose and strategic direction of Island Primary. The role of the Board of Governors is strategic rather than operational, and their remit is to support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors to drive school improvement.
